Terms & Conditions
1. Introduction and Acceptance
1.1 These General Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern access to and use of the website www.casadasmaquinas.com, the online purchase of tickets, and visits to the premises of Casa das Máquinas, operated by Guindais Eventos, Lda., based in Porto, tax registration number (NIPC) 515961787, hereinafter referred to as the "Operating Entity".
1.2 By accessing the Website, purchasing tickets, or visiting Casa das Máquinas, the user ("Customer" or "Visitor") declares to have read, understood, and fully accepted these Terms. If you do not agree, you must refrain from using the services.
1.3 The Operating Entity reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time, with the applicable version being the one in force on the date of ticket purchase.
1.4 The User undertakes not to misuse the Website by intentionally introducing viruses, Trojans, or any other technologically harmful material, nor to attempt unauthorized access to servers or databases. The Operating Entity reserves the right to cancel purchases deemed suspicious of fraud and report them to the relevant authorities. It is likewise prohibited to use the Website to transmit defamatory or unlawful content, or to collect and exploit data from other users without authorization.
1.5 The Visitor acknowledges that the structure, layout, logos, and contents displayed on the Website are owned by or licensed to the Operating Entity and are protected by intellectual property rights. Copying, modifying, or commercially exploiting these elements without prior written authorization is strictly prohibited.
1.6 The Operating Entity does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Website and reserves the right to temporarily suspend access for maintenance or updates.
1.7 The Website may contain hyperlinks to third-party pages; the Operating Entity is not responsible for the content or privacy policies of those external websites.
2. Tickets and Online Purchase
2.1 Tickets may be purchased through the official Website, authorized partner platforms, or in person at the Casa das Máquinas physical box office, subject to availability.
2.2 Each ticket is strictly valid only for the specific date and session/time slot selected at the time of purchase.
2.3 Available ticket types: Adult, Child, and Family.
2.4 It is the Customer's sole responsibility to verify and confirm the date, time, quantity, and ticket category selected, as well as the accuracy of their contact details, prior to completing the purchase.
2.5 Upon confirmation of payment, the Customer will receive a digital ticket via email, which must be presented at the entrance.
2.6 The storage, sharing, duplicate printing, or forwarding of electronic tickets is the sole responsibility of the Customer. The Operating Entity is not liable for duplicate tickets; admission will be strictly refused to any individual presenting a ticket code that has already been validated in the system.
2.7 The Operating Entity reserves the right to request a valid photo ID from the ticket holder to verify their identity and ticket entitlement. If identity or condition cannot be confirmed, entry may be denied without entitlement to a refund.
2.8 Displayed prices include VAT at the legal rate in force, unless stated otherwise. The Operating Entity reserves the right to update prices at any time; such changes will not affect purchases already finalized.
2.9 The Customer warrants that all personal and billing information provided is accurate and truthful, assuming full responsibility for any errors or damages resulting from incorrect or incomplete information.
2.10 Invoices are generated automatically and sent by email along with the digital ticket. If the Customer wishes to include a Tax ID (NIF) on the invoice, it must be explicitly entered in the corresponding field before completing the checkout process.
3. Payment
3.1 Payment is processed through the methods provided on the Website via a secure, certified payment gateway.
3.2 The purchase is considered complete only upon successful authorization and confirmation of the payment.
3.3 The Operating Entity does not store complete payment card details; payment processing is handled exclusively by a certified third-party provider.
4. Cancellations, Changes and Refunds
4.1 Right of withdrawal: Under applicable law, the 14-day statutory right of withdrawal does not apply to leisure or event services provided on a specific date or time; therefore, it does not apply to dated Casa das Máquinas tickets.
4.2 Date/time change: Tickets are only valid for the date and time (slot) selected by the Customer. The Customer may request a change to the visit date or time prior to the session via email at contact@casadasmaquinas.com or in person; however, changes are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
4.3 Cancellation by the Customer: Tickets are non-refundable. However, tickets may be freely transferred to third parties (i.e. another person may use the ticket without requiring a formal name change), provided that the exact date, session time, and ticket category are respected (for example, a child ticket may only be used by another child).
4.4 Cancellation by Casa das Máquinas: In the event of closure or service interruption attributable to the Operating Entity, the Customer will be entitled to a full refund or free rescheduling.
4.5 Force Majeure: The Operating Entity shall not be held liable for failure to perform or cancellations caused by events beyond its reasonable control (such as general power outages, extreme natural disasters, or government directives). In such cases, the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost, with no immediate cash refund.
4.6 Late Arrivals and No-Show Policy: Casa das Máquinas operates on a strict continuous flow and capacity-controlled session schedule; Visitors must arrive at reception 15 minutes before their scheduled time. Once a session has started, late entry is strictly prohibited so as not to disrupt the experience for others. In the event of late arrival after the session has begun, the Visitor may request to reschedule for a later session on the same day, strictly subject to seat availability at that time. If no availability exists or the Visitor fails to attend ("no show"), the ticket will automatically expire without entitlement to a refund, compensation, or rescheduling for future dates.
5. Admission and House Rules
5.1 Visitors must report to the reception desk 15 minutes prior to their scheduled session time.
5.2 Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. The immersive experience is not recommended for children under 3 years old due to darkness, intense lighting effects, and immersive sound levels.
5.3 The following are strictly prohibited: pets (except certified assistance dogs); bulky items or large luggage; baby strollers inside the exhibition rooms; food and beverages; and individuals showing signs of intoxication.
5.4 The Visitor undertakes not to touch technical infrastructure, not to use camera flash, and not to run or jump throughout the space.
5.5 Health Warnings: The immersive experience involves remaining in darkened rooms with intense light projections, strobe effects, and surrounding sound. The visit is not recommended for individuals with photosensitive epilepsy, light-sensitive neurological conditions, or claustrophobia; each Visitor is responsible for evaluating their own health condition.
5.6 Reduced Mobility: The venue is equipped with an elevator providing access to all floors. Nevertheless, Visitors with reduced mobility should contact Casa das Máquinas in advance so that our staff can best advise and accommodate their visit.
5.7 Flow and Re-entry: The exhibition follows a one-way, sequential route. If a Visitor needs to leave a room during the projection, re-entry is only permitted when the group transitions to the next room.
5.8 Intentional Damage: The Operating Entity reserves the right to seek damages and charge Visitors for any intentional damage, vandalism, or damage caused by improper contact with facilities, artwork, or projectors.
5.9 The Operating Entity reserves the right to deny admission or remove anyone whose behavior compromises the safety of the premises, staff, or third parties.
6. Photography, Video and Copyright
6.1 Taking photos and short videos for personal, non-commercial use is permitted.
6.2 The use of tripods, monopods, and/or professional lighting equipment is prohibited without prior authorization. Furthermore, any photo or video capture for commercial, journalistic, editorial, or promotional purposes by content creators (including influencers on paid campaigns or exchanges) strictly requires prior written authorization from Guindais Eventos, Lda. The use of drones is expressly prohibited.
6.3 All artistic content, audio, and visual works of Casa das Máquinas are fully protected by copyright and intellectual property laws.
6.4 By sharing photos or videos of the visit on social media and tagging Casa das Máquinas, the Customer grants the Operating Entity permission to repost and use that content across its official channels for promotional purposes.
6.5 The Operating Entity may record video and photograph the venue during opening hours for archival and promotional purposes.
6.6 Staff Privacy: Video and photo recording by Visitors must respect the privacy rights of the Casa das Máquinas team. The Operating Entity reserves the right to request the immediate deletion of recordings that violate this rule.
7. Personal Data Protection
7.1 Personal data is processed by the Operating Entity, acting as Data Controller, in strict accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable data protection legislation.
7.2 Personal data is collected and used for: (i) processing ticket purchases and managing admissions; (ii) operational communications regarding the visit (confirmations, schedule updates); (iii) sending promotional communications, subject to prior consent; and (iv) complying with statutory and tax obligations.
7.3 Data will be retained only for the period strictly necessary to fulfill the above purposes and legal obligations, and will not be disclosed to third parties unrelated to the service, except for payment processors, ticketing platforms, and other essential subcontractors, or where required by law.
7.4 Data subjects may at any time exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection by contacting contact@casadasmaquinas.com, as well as lodge a complaint with the Portuguese Data Protection Authority (CNPD).
7.5 For detailed information regarding our data handling practices, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
7.6 CCTV: For the safety of people and property, the premises are monitored by closed-circuit television (CCTV). Recorded footage is retained for the statutory limit of 30 days, after which it is automatically and securely erased, in accordance with applicable legislation.
8. Liability
8.1 The Operating Entity undertakes to maintain adequate safety, health, and hygiene standards throughout the facilities in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
8.2 The Operating Entity provides complimentary courtesy lockers for the temporary storage of small personal belongings during the visit. However, the Operating Entity accepts no liability for loss, theft, or damage to valuables (such as electronic devices, cash, jewelry, or personal identification documents) left inside lockers or on the premises. Use of these lockers is entirely at the Visitor's own risk.
8.3 The Operating Entity shall not be liable for incidents resulting from non-compliance with house rules or individual health reactions to visual, lighting, or auditory effects.
8.4 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits the liability of the Operating Entity where such limitation is prohibited by mandatory statutory law.
9. Complaints and Dispute Resolution
9.1 Any queries or complaints regarding ticket purchases or visits may be submitted via contact@casadasmaquinas.com. Casa das Máquinas provides, as required by law, a physical Complaints Book on site and an Electronic Complaints Book at www.livroreclamacoes.pt.
9.2 For alternative dispute resolution (ADR), the Consumer may resort to the Porto Consumer Information and Arbitration Centre (CICAP - www.cicap.pt).
10. Final Provisions
10.1 These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with Portuguese law.
10.2 For the settlement of any dispute arising from these Terms, exclusive jurisdiction is conferred upon the courts of the district of Porto, with express waiver of any other, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection laws.
10.3 If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, such determination shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions.
11. Membership Program and Annual Pass
11.1 Casa das Máquinas offers an annual membership program dedicated to individual members and cultural supporters, comprising three subscription tiers: Friend, Friend+, and Patron.
11.2 The annual membership is valid for a period of 12 (twelve) months starting from the date of purchase confirmation and automatically renews each year for an equivalent period until cancelled by the member.
11.3 Collecting the physical wristband or official credential at the premises of Casa das Máquinas does not modify, extend, or pause the validity period or the expiration date of the subscription.
11.4 Friend Membership: Grants unlimited free admission to the primary holder throughout the annual term, with 1 (one) personal and non-transferable ticket issued in their name per visit, per day, subject to prior session booking on the platform.
11.5 Friend+ Membership: Grants unlimited free admission to 2 (two) designated holders registered on the subscription (primary cardholder and named second member), entitled to 1 (one) individual ticket per holder for each visit, pear day, subject to prior booking. Named member registrations are fixed and non-transferable throughout the membership term.
11.6 Patron Membership: Actively supports the cultural project and provides direct, walk-in admission at the door (no advance booking required, subject only to venue safety capacity), with the right to bring 1 (one) guest per visit and an CdM wristband.
11.7 Priority Booking: All membership tiers (Friend, Friend+, and Patron) benefit from priority booking, allowing visits to be scheduled up to 60 (sixty) days in advance (providing a 15-day priority window ahead of the general public box office).
11.8 Identification and Non-Transferability: Friend and Friend+ passes and their associated tickets are strictly personal and non-transferable. The Operating Entity reserves the right to request a valid photo ID and/or the member wristband upon entry to verify entitlement.
